Where Celebrities Go to Escape It All

Celebrity getaways are often in luxe locales, such as Seinfeld's mansion in Telluride, CO.
In this paparazzi age, celebrities aren’t even close to safe when they leave Hollywood for vacations. Anyone with an Internet connection or anyone who has waited on a supermarket checkout line is bombarded with images of stars romping in the waves on tropical shores, with captions judging their levels of fitness... or lack thereof.

Hollywood types like to vacation in Malibu, but the following homes are located all over the place—the Caribbean, ski destinations, the downeast coast of Maine, and upstate New York. Oh, and some of them are, in fact, in Malibu.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell
Location:
0 Broad Beach Rd, Malibu, CA
Value: $14.75 million
Bedrooms / Baths: 4 / 5
Square Footage: 4,300
This oceanfront property saw extensive rennovation in 2005.
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have previously offered their Balinese-styled getaway home on the celebrity-studded Broad Beach for rent in the summers for $95,000 a month, and now it’s it's for sale , or for rent at a reduced rental price of $80,000. Reduced or not, that's still a lot of scratch. What would the renter or purchaser get for all that? The home includes three suites (the master bath has a Chinese onyx spa-inspired bath), a media room, a designer kitchen, plus a guest house with meditation or guest room, and a workout room.

9 things guys say should never be fake about you

9 things guys say should never be fake about you

Guys want genuine women in their lives. They want to know who you are and what you’re about right from the start. Women don’t want their guy to change mid-relationship, and guys want the same thing from a partner. Knowing this, I’ve compiled a list of the top nine things that my male listeners and readers feel should never, ever be fake about you:

1. Sharing your man’s interests
Often, women will feign interest in activities that they would never normally do in order to get to the first date with a man and to keep things moving along once they’re seeing each other. Don’t go crazy for his favorite football team, develop a love of white water rafting or suddenly crave Ethiopian food if those things simply are not true to your character. He will eventually see through it or be greatly disappointed when he didn’t get the outdoorsy woman that he always dreamed of once you grow tired of it. A man would rather you admit early on that you’d try something new just for his sake than to act like you absolutely love something that you have totally hated all your life.

Can You Spot the Hidden Images in These Famous Logos?

You’ve seen these famous logos countless times on billboards, passing by on trucks, and at the grocery store, but there is more to them than meets the eye. If you take a closer look, you will find that these recognized logos have hidden images and messages. Check out these inventive designs that cleverly use white space and optical illusions to display subliminal messages.

FedEx

This logo appears to be very simple, but if you look at the white space between the "E" and "x" in “Ex," you'll find it is more complex than you thought. Can you spot the arrow?

Tostitos

These popular party chips are a staple at many backyard BBQs, but chances are, you've never noticed the hidden celebration scene concealed within the letters. The second and third "t’s" are sharing a chip over an "i" that is dotted with a salsa bowl. Yum!

Le Tour de France

Named the world's most famous and prestigious cycling race, bike-lovers and non-cyclists alike are familiar with the event's emblem. However, you might be missing out on the logo's most interesting aspect. After careful examination, you'll notice an image of a person riding a bicycle; the yellow circle is the front wheel and the r is the body.

Tina Fey has welcomed a new addition to the family -- another baby girl.
The "30 Rock" star and her husband, Jeffrey Richmond, welcomed baby Penelope Athena on Wednesday, the actress' rep confirmed to Access Hollywood.
Penelope Athena is the couple's second daughter. Their first child, Alice, is 5.
It was back in April, while appearing on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," that Tina first confirmed she was pregnant.
The new baby will give husband Jeff a second chance at diaper duty.
In GQ's May issue, the "Bossypants" author said her husband was good at everything to do with Alice, everything but diaper duty.
"My husband was really good about helping out. The problem was diapers. He never got past the poop," Tina previously told the mag. "He would do these [gagging noise] 'Oh God, I'm gonna vomit.' Never got over it."

The weird way I met someone

The weird way I met someone
Ask most men and women how they meet the people they date, and you’ll probably hear answers like “through friends,” “online,” “at a party,” or even “my mom set us up; she has better taste than I thought!” Some people, however, find romance in much more surprising places — and their stories are testament to the fact that if you’re looking for love (keeping common sense and safety in mind, of course!), you should always keep your eyes peeled. Don’t believe us? Check out how these readers ended up clinching a date.

While idling on the freeway of love
“I was stuck in rush hour traffic. There was a new silver Mustang in the lane next to me. Mustang drivers always notice other Mustang drivers, so I pulled up next to him and slowed down so I could get a good look, flashed him a flirty smile, and revved my engine a little. After eight miles of flirting in stop-and-go traffic, he called out, asking whether I would like his number. We dated for three months until I realized the only thing we had in common was our love for our Mustangs. But it sure was fun while it lasted!”

Get Out of Hair! Rihanna Spends $23,000 a Week on Stylist

Being a style maven isn't easy. Since 2008's Good Girl Gone Bad album release, Rihanna has chopped her locks into a bob, a mohawk, a half-shaved pompadour, a mushroom with blond streaks and most recently, she's been rocking a steady stream of various red wigs - with one in particular giving her the unflattering nickname of Sideshow Bob of The Simpsons fame.
Just listing some of her hair changes makes my scalp itch. As the saying goes, beauty is pain and in the case of Rihanna, it's not only her scalp that may be in pain, but also her wallet. Ursula Stephen, a top celebrity stylist, who has worked with RiRi since the beginning of her career, charges the style star about $3,200 a day, which totals out to about $23,000 a week, according to the Daily Mail. According to a member of her entourage, in additon to giving Rihanna hairstyles that keeps her name a buzz, she's also become a close friend of hers, which could be another reason why she may not be willing to let go of the expensive hairdresser. "Rihanna likes to pioneer new styles but it's costing her a fotune. Ursula is a close confidant and they are together all the time."
Maybe one day Rihanna can do like us regular folk and learn to DIY her looks. On the bright side, at least she doesn't have a $1 million collection of wigs (ahem, Beyonce) and hasn't said she may need to start using Rogaine (ahem, Lady Gaga).

Tips for Longer-Lasting Laptop Batteries

Hardware budgets are feeling the pinch of our tepid economy, and many companies are making employees use their laptops longer. If you are starting to tell your folks to keep plugging along with their laptops for four or five years instead of just three, you might be running into an unexpected expense: dead laptop batteries.

Well, to be fair, your laptop's batteries probably aren't completely dead. But since Lithium Ion batteries tend to lose about 20% of their capacity each year, a typical three-year-old laptop might only get about an hour or so on a charge, which might not even get your folks through an entire meeting. Here are four simple tips to forestall the day that you need to replace those batteries:
Keep it cool. Heat is the primary killer of batteries. Tell your employees to be careful not to let their laptops overheat. One common way that happens is packing a running laptop into a backpack or briefcase. If the laptop fails to go to sleep (and let's face it — sleep glitches are common), then the laptop can get crazy hot in an enclosed space. You can almost smell the loss of battery longevity.

Jennifer Lopez's Wax Figure Gets Official Relaunch, Hit or Miss?

Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez's likeness has been immortalized (again) thanks to the help of Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, who relaunched the singer's newly molded statue in Hollywood, Calif. yesterday (August 1).

The recently single singer's wax figure was reworked and received a makeover (make-under?), complete with a brand new 'do, dress and apparently some facial reconstruction for the famous museum's Hollywood gallery.

Lopez is on display in wax at multiple Madame Tussauds' locations including Las Vegas, London, Washington, D.C. and New York.

Jennifer Lopez
J.Lo's statue stands among a slew of celebs whose famous figures also received the wax treatment.

Tussauds was spot-on with their riveting replica of Alicia Keys, which they used to redeem themselves after their Justin Bieber bomb -- a figure that really missed the mark.

Unfortunately, we fear Jennifer's figure didn't fare much better than Bieber's. The figure's frigid pose is pretty off-putting, not to mention the death stare shooting from statue's evil eyes!

It's almost as if the house of Tussauds foresaw the future and predicted the Lopez/Marc Anthony divorce announcement while they were at work on the wax doppelganger.

MTV Apparently Wants To Be 29 Forever

On Monday, August 1, MTV turned 30 years old. Media outlets across the country, including Yahoo!, celebrated this auspicious occasion in pop culture. All but ONE media outlet, that is: um, MTV. Like the ungracefully aging Gloria Swanson in Sunset Blvd. or titular character in Logan's Run, MTV bizarrely refused to celebrate its own 30th birthday, and just treated it like any other day.

Found: Messages in Bottles

One year ago, off the coast of Oregon, a ten-year-old boy tossed a message in a bottle into the Pacific Ocean. Weeks ago, a 9-year-old girl in Hawaii found it.

According to a popular article from the AP, Thomas Craig never expected his bottle to arrive safely in anyone's hands. He told West Hawaii Today newspaper, "I couldn't believe someone had found it. I was shocked. When I threw it overboard, it hit the top of my grandpa's boat so I thought it broke and sank. The chances of someone finding it seemed like a once-in-a-million type thing."
His seafaring send-and-receive beat the odds when Trinity Ballesteros of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, saw the bottle washed up on the beach. The note inside read: "Dear finder of my message, my name is Thomas and I live in Oregon. I'm ten years old and this week I'm salmon fishing deep in the ocean. I would like to hear from you."
Trinity responded (via email) to Thomas, who had included his mom's email address. Since then, the two plan to become pen pals (of the digital variety).
But that isn't the only message in a bottle making waves on the Web. Near Florida, a man found another missive that had been floating in glass for 50 years. A hotel owner had put the message out to sea with a note that said anyone who returns the bottle to the hotel will get a $150 reward.
You can watch it below.
